Some addresses that are: “Monument, CO 80132” are not within Town of Monument limits and are part of unincorporated El Paso County.
Residents who do live within Town limits:
Building/alteration permits where a contractor is used, must have a Town business license
May have all services such as water and sewer provided by the Town (unless you are in a special district)
Vote in Town elections
Are protected and served by the Town Police Department
Comply with the Town Municipal Code and Zoning ordinances
Residents living in unincorporated El Paso County, Not within Town Limits:
Have Woodmoor water or private wells, not Town of Monument water or TriView water
Have El Paso County Road Maintenance or private contract maintenance, not Town Public Works or TriView public works.
Are protected and served by El Paso County Sheriff’s Office not Town Police; although Town Police may assist.
Comply with El Paso County ordinances not Town Municipal Code and Zoning ordinances. (All residents must comply with Regional Building Code)
Vote in County Elections not Town elections.
There are two special districts within Town boundaries:
TriView Metropolitan District (East of I-25):
TriView Metropolitan District (TMD) provides all services except for police and fire protection. The Monument Police Department provides police protection. Tri-Lakes Fire provides fire protection. TriView complies with the Town Municipal Code and Zoning Ordinances; residents can vote in Town elections. All other services are provided by TriView, including: water and sewer, storm drainage, road and sidewalk maintenance, street sweeping, snow removal; and parks, trails, and median maintenance. Village Center Metro District (East of I-25, south of State Hwy 105 on the east side of Knollwood Boulevard)
Village Center Metropolitan District (VCMD) provides all services except for police and fire protection. The Monument Police Department provides police protection. Tri-Lakes Fire provides fire protection. VCMD complies with Town of Monument Municipal Code and Zoning ordinances; residents can vote in Town of Monument elections. All other services are provided by VCMD including: storm drainage, road and sidewalk maintenance, street sweeping, snow removal; and parks and trails maintenance. How Do I know if I live within Town of Monument Boundaries?
Type in your “Schedule/Parcel Number, address, Owner name (Lastname Firstname)…. Hit “Enter” or select the magnifying glass.
If there is more then one choice, it will list them, and you will choose the correct one.
You will then see all of the information related to that address, including the “Tax Schedule number”
Scroll down to the Tax Entity and Levy Information
If the Town of Monument is listed as the taxing entity, you live within Town of Monument boundaries. If not, then you are in unincorporated El Paso County. This is also where you will see your water district. Another option is to look on the Town of Monument website under the “MAPS” and choose the Town of Monument boundaries map.
